Frimley Health to be showcased as the best place for your NHS career

Frimley Health nurse stood by monitoring equipmentA range of fantastic NHS careers will be showcased at a Frimley Health open event later this month.

The trust’s two biggest hospitals – Frimley Park near Camberley, Surrey, and Wexham Park near Slough, Berkshire – will host simultaneous careers mornings on Saturday 28 April between 9am and 1pm.

Since Frimley Park Hospital joined with Wexham Park and Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot three years ago the trust has become one of the biggest and busiest hospital trusts in the NHS. This has given its 9,000 staff some of the best and most comprehensive training and career development packages that the NHS can offer.

Training, mentoring and leadership development are the cornerstones of the trust’s workforce strategy.

Neil Webb, safe staffing matron for the trust, said: “We believe that there is no better place than Frimley Health for your NHS career and we want to spread the word.

“Staff here work as a team to help one another be the best that they can. We all know the health sector has many challenges but we also know that by working together we can rise to them.

“This will be one of the biggest careers events we have hosted so we’d love anyone interested to come along and talk to our front line staff about what makes Frimley Health special.”

At the careers morning, visitors will be able to:

  • Learn about a range of different departments and specialties
  • Talk directly with frontline staff and department managers
  • Go on a guided tour of the Frimley Park or Wexham Park hospital

Frimley Health employees are among the most motivated and engaged in the NHS, according to the recent NHS staff survey

Many of them have been attracted to work in the trust’s location, which is within easy reach of London yet covers many areas that consistently score among the most desirable places to live in the country.

In addition the trust is recognised as one of the best for patient care. Frimley Park was the first hospital in the country to be awarded an ‘outstanding’ rating by the Care Quality Commission and Wexham Park and Heatherwood are both rated ‘good’.

The future is exciting too, with a £300m capital programme that includes an innovative £50m emergency department and assessment centre nearing completion, and work starting on rebuilding Heatherwood Hospital to create a £90m elective surgical and diagnostic centre in a woodland setting.

The event is aimed at students, qualified professionals who are looking for new opportunities to develop their careers and anyone else who wants to find out more about working in the featured professions and the NHS.

Careers being showcased include nursing, midwifery, theatre staff, and allied health professionals such as occupational therapists, physiotherapists, radiographers and biomedical scientists. There is no need to book, just turn up between 9am and 1pm at the Postgraduate Education Centre at Frimley Park (GU16 7UJ) or the Postgraduate Medical Centre at Wexham Park (SL2 4HL) and stay for as long as you wish.
