Our electronic patient record system
When Frimley Health launched its new electronic patient record (EPR) system, Epic, in June 2022 it instantly catapulted the trust from one of the least to one of the most digitally advanced in the UK, revolutionising the way our care is delivered.
Like many other NHS trusts, Frimley Health previously relied on paper patient records and old IT systems with limited integration and capability. Too often we were getting bogged down going through endless paper notes and logging in and out of multiple systems whilst needing to remember countless passwords to get the information we need.
Now with our patient records in one place, alongside improvements to safety and care using state of-the-art digital technology, all clinical services across our hospitals and community sites have been completely transformed.
But this is just the beginning, and we know that our vision is to be at the forefront of what the digital agenda can provide for the future – so far, we have barely scratched the surface of what our EPR can help us achieve.
How does this benefit our staff and patients?
Epic EPR has transformed the way we care for our patients and changed the way all our staff work. By bringing together our multiple systems we provide a single hospital service wherever our patients are treated across the Trust. When our patients stay or visit, they notice an all-round better experience, and they won’t be needing to repeat the same information to different members of staff.
Our teams have created some fantastic short videos to highlight how our EPR is transforming how we deliver care – watch on the benefits for patients page.
Our electronic patient record celebrates its first birthday
We’re delighted to introduce our new electronic patient record (EPR) yearbook – a digital collection of case studies, stories and diary entries from our staff and patients highlighting the benefits from our first year of our EPR.
Like many other NHS trusts, Frimley Health previously relied on paper patient records and old IT systems. Now with our patient records in one place, alongside improvements to safety and care using state of-the-art digital technology, all clinical services across our hospitals and community sites have been completely transformed. We’ve had some amazing benefits so far, including in improvements to patient experience and patient safety, better staff experiences and efficiency and productivity increases.
But this is just the beginning, and we know that our vision is to be at the forefront of what the digital agenda can provide for the future – so far, we have barely scratched the surface of what our EPR can help us achieve.
We hope you enjoy this collection of our teams’ experiences and stories from the first 12 months of our journey.
