Joining the library
How do I join the library?
Fill in a registration form at the library or complete our online registration form.
Do I get a library card when I join the library?
Yes, but we are phasing out the use of plastic library cards and eventually will either provide you with your membership number via email, or as a label that can be fixed to the back of your trust ID badge.

Using the library facilities
Do you have a printer?
Yes, we have a FindMe printer at Frimley and a FollowMe printer at Wexham; they both have scanning and photocopying functionalities. Instructions on how to set up your ID badge to use the printers are available near the printers.
Is there an internal telephone I can use?
Please ask library staff for the phone.
How do I book a room to do some quiet group study, run a training session or do some quiet solo study?
Frimley: Go to Ourplace and click on the Meeting rooms link; you will be on the Frimley Park tab. Follow the instructions in the ‘Notes’ column for ‘Postgraduate Education Centre (PGEC)'.
Wexham: There are no rooms in the library. Please look for a room elsewhere in the Postgraduate Centre via OurPlace.

24/7 access
What are your opening hours?
Frimley Park Hospital - We are staffed Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, excluding Bank Holidays.
Wexham Park - We are staffed Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, excluding Bank Holidays.
How do I access the library out-of-hours?
Access to the both libraries for all staff is via your Trust ID badge. If you are based on one site and wish to use the library on the other site, you will need to obtain an ID badge for that site (contact fhft.askhr@nhs.net). Alternatively, during staffed hours, just knock on the door and we will let you in.

Borrowing books
How many books can I borrow?
You can borrow up to 12 books at a time.
Can I borrow out books out-of-hours?
Yes, by using the self-service machine. You will need your library membership number or library card.
How long can I borrow books for?
Book loans are for four weeks. You can renew books a maximum of three times, as long as they haven't been reserved by someone else.
You can renew your books using your library account details at: www.swims.nhs.uk (you will need to set up a PIN when you login the first time) or email us at: fhft.wxlibrary@nhs.net (WPH) / fhft.libraryfph@nhs.net (FPH). If you have the books with you, you can renew the books using the self-service machine.
Where can I return books?
There is a Book Return box outside the main library entrance at Frimley, and outside the Postgraduate Centre at Wexham. If you are in the library, please use the self-service unit to return books and place them in the box to the left of the unit (WPH) or on the trolley to the right of the unit (FPH).
How can I search for books?
Use the online catalogue at www.swims.nhs.uk.
Will I be fined if my books are overdue?
We do not charge fines. However, if the books become very overdue, you will be invoiced for the replacement cost of the book(s) and charged a £10 administration fee.

Accessing online resources
How can I get an NHS OpenAthens account?
Go to https://openathens.nice.org.uk/ to register for an account.
What online resources do you have?
You can access our resources via this link or via the Knowledge and Library Hub. Sign in with your OpenAthens account to search for eJournals and eBooks, and follow the links to databases and other resources.
How do I access UpToDate?
We recommend that you set up a personal UpToDate account via the Trust network, which will allow you to access UpToDate at home and via the mobile app. You need to register on the Trust network by going to OurPlace and searching for "UpToDate" in the purple Applications search box. Once you reach the site, select Register. NB. you will need to re-authenticate your account every 90 days by logging in via the same route.
