Libraries & Sustainability
Frimley Health Library & Knowledge Services are proud to have signed the Green Libraries Manifesto. We are committed to embedding sustainability in decision-making around resources and facilities, and promoting carbon literacy.
Our plans for the future include:
- Making sustainability a key objective in the library strategy
- Promoting e-Learning for Health's Carbon Literacy for Healthcare programme
- Continuing to reduce paper by using online forms such as library registrations and book/article requests
- Using reusable marketing materials to cut down on waste paper
- Increasing our range of online resources such as eBooks and eJournals
- Reducing our use of plastic e.g. stopping the use of plastic library cards
- Saving energy through motion sensor lighting and shutting down PCs when not in use
- Recycling our withdrawn books, either through books sales, donating to other countries, or using Book Rescuing services
