Some of you may already have met our new deputy chief nurse, Henry Wilding, who joined the Frimley Family in the middle of January.

Reporting to Lorna Wilkinson, chief of nursing and midwifery, Henry will work alongside Maxine McVey and Alison Szewcyzk, both deputy chief nurses who recently ‘retired and returned’ to take up part-time roles.

Henry will be working cross-site, including the community hubs, and will oversee workforce, safeguarding, mental health, learning disabilities and infection control as part of his role. A highly respected and experienced senior nurse, Henry joins us from Salisbury NHS Foundation Trust where he spent 11 years in various heads of nursing roles managing sexual health, MSK and surgery before being appointed deputy chief nurse.

Henry qualified as a nurse in 1997 after being inspired to pursue a career in care following several visits to a leprosy village in Tanzania where he worked as a project officer. The experience shaped his clinical background which has focused on marginalised patient groups including leprosy, TB, ED and HIV specialisms.

Henry said: “I have been really excited about joining Frimley Health and I hope to continue this focus and promotion of unrepresented patients, families and staff groups in my new role.

“While we are all experiencing acute challenges and our toughest winter in the NHS, the friendly welcome, offers of support and helpful direction I have received over the past two weeks have reinforced the special nature and capabilities of Frimley Health. I am very proud to be part of the team. Please look out for me and say hello.”
