An ambitious programme to transform care for patients and staff at Frimley Health is one step closer as we mark 'one year out' from our Epic EPR launch date.
To celebrate the launch Chief Executive Neil Dardis started the countdown live with staff this morning. He was followed by Director of Transformation, Innovation and Digital Caroline Hutton and lead for clinical engagement Dr Emmanuel Umerah who gave a brief overview on why Frimley Health is embarking on this journey of change.
The contract with Epic was agreed by the Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust Board based on the recommendation of the clinicians and teams who will be using the new system.
Why are we doing this?
We want to provide the best possible state-of-the-art care to our patients at Frimley Health. Our dedicated team of healthcare professionals have the best possible knowledge and experience to provide the care you need, but we know that excellent healthcare today and in the future depends on high quality digital solutions.
That is why it is a core ambition of the FHFT strategy to ‘advance our digital capabilities’ – and is why the Trust is undertaking a huge digital transformation, led by the implementation of our Epic EPR in March 2022.
At the moment we have more than 200 different systems operating in the Trust and this ‘One Frimley’ solution will mean vital patient information can be shared across our teams and give us much better intelligence about the patient demand that we need to meet.
Epic has significant experience of working with hospital teams, having previously delivered an electronic patient record system to Great Ormond Street and University College London Hospitals among others.
