Frimley Health has been shortlisted in three categories at the HSJ Awards 2021, including the highly prestigious Trust of the Year Award, the Environmental Sustainability Award and the Military and Civilian Health Partnership Award.
The HSJ Awards received more than 1000 entries this year from hospital Trusts and healthcare providers up and down the country. Following an in-depth judging process, the shortlisted companies were selected based on their “ambition, visionary spirit and the demonstrable positive impact their performance has had on both patient and staff experiences.”
The judging panel was made up of respected figures within the healthcare community, including Sir Bruce Keogh (Chair, Birmingham Women’s and Children’s FT); Marie Gabriel CBE (Chair, NHS Race and Health Observatory); and former HSJ Trust of the Year winners Ann Marr OBE (Chief Executive, St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals Trust) and Richard Mitchell (Chief Executive, Sherwood Forest Hospitals FT).
Alistair McLellan, HSJ editor said: “On behalf of all my colleagues, I’d like to take this opportunity to congratulate Frimley Health on being nominated three times in this year’s HSJ Awards. The applications we receive always present our panel of judges with a very difficult task as the standard is unfailingly high and the breadth of innovation and passion for patient care is always so inspiring.
“This year, we really have been overwhelmed with the level of entries, particularly when set against the backdrop of the Covid-19 pandemic and the huge challenges faced by our health and social care workforce. We are looking forward to welcoming all our finalists to the live ceremony in November and joining us in celebrating their incredible achievements and commitment to excellence.”
Dan Bradbury, Chief Operating Officer at Frimley Health said: ““Making the shortlist for three different categories is testament to everything our staff have done to serve patients across our acute hospitals and in all the community hubs. The awards reflect the hard work, dedication and commitment that all have our staff have shown throughout the pandemic and beyond. The way everyone has pulled together and reacted to the immense challenges is truly admirable.”
The Trust of the Year Award entry focused on Frimley Health’s response to Covid and the fact that it had one of the highest number of Covid inpatients in the NHS. During this intensely challenging period, the Trust increased its ITU capacity by 250% and still managed to keep its strategic programmes on track with a newly built Heatherwood hospital and the procurement of a brand new electronic patient record system. For the Environmental Sustainability Award entry, the shortlisting recognised the Trust’s green initiatives and annual savings over 61 tonnes of CO2 emissions and £12.5k and the Military and Civilian Health Partnership Award entry celebrated its successful 25 year relationship with the Joint Hospital Group South East (JHGSE).
The winners will be announced during an awards ceremony at Evolution, London on November 18th 2021. The full list of nominees for the HSJ Awards 2021 can be found at: awards.hsj.co.uk/shortlist-2021
