Work experience is an excellent opportunity for individuals to learn about a job and find out whether a particular work path is for them. To ensure a standardised framework for placements within the healthcare setting, Health Education England created a Work Experience Quality Standard. Previously a Bronze award holder, Frimley Health recently submitted an application for, and have now been presented with, a Silver award.
Nikki Morgan, Learning and Development Manager, says: “Organisations that are awarded the quality standard can assure prospective applicants that its work experience offer meets a professionally agreed quality standard, and so it’s wonderful to have our hard work rewarded with this award. The application process focussed on six criteria where we had to show how our candidates are supported, both before and after the placement, as well as when they are ‘on the job.’ Here, at Frimley Health we do our best to make sure that we deliver the best experience we can for each candidate, and have always had a lot of great feedback. We’ve also discovered that we are the first Trust in the South-East to be accredited with this Quality Award which is fantastic.”
