Tamara Hower, Megan Parry and Dr Anika Wijewardane were among the FHFT staff collecting ViP awards in July

Frimley Health's latest Values into Practice award winners were celebrated at our Trust Board meeting in July.

Linda Kelly, Megan Parry and Tamara Howe were nominated by a colleague, patient or member of the public for exemplifying our shared values: committed to excellence, working together and facing the future. A fourth colleague, Dr Anika Wijewardane, was there to collect her award from May.

Linda, an oncology secretary at Wexham Park Hospital, spent more than an hour on the phone with a patient who had been diagnosed with cancer and was declining any further treatment. By listening to his fears with compassion and talking to him with empathy, the patient agreed to attend his appointments.

Megan, events manager with the Frimley Health Charity, led on delivering an amazing Run Frimley in event in May that involved more than 1,200 runners. It had great feedback from runners and the community despite the new venue and new route.

Tamara, a consultant in obstetrics and gynaecology at Frimley Park Hospital, has played a huge role in speeding up the time it takes for patients on cancer pathways to get their diagnostic results by supporting colleagues involved in the often complex processes. Her patience, compassion, supportive nature and leadership have helped deliver faster and better outcomes for patients.

Dr Anika Wijewardane, consultant acute and stroke physician at Frimley Park Hospital, was among the winners in May and was recognised for leading change in the Acute Medical Unit. However, she had been unable to attend that month’s Board meeting to receive her certificate.

If you know someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty in their role at Frimley Health, you can nominate them for a ViP award.
