We’re celebrating our latest ViPs.
We have honoured four more colleagues with Values into Practice Awards to recognise their dedication and hard work.
The awards are presented at our public board meetings and honour staff who have exemplified our shared values: Committed to excellence, Working together and Facing the future. Nominations come from Trust colleagues and members of the public.
Congratulations to January’s winners: Hepatology Nurse Specialist Liliana Goncalves, Community Nursing Sister Elaine Edwards, Charge Nurse Alessandro Farinelli and Junior Sister Remya Prasad.
Liliana was nominated by a patient who praised her care, warmth, empathy and professionalism.
They said Liliana always takes time to explain the reasoning behind her advice and listens to their questions and concerns.
The patient described their relationship with Liliana as a partnership with the two working together on their care. The patient added: “I am very grateful for the support and advice I have received from Liliana over the last two years.”
A colleague nominated Elaine in recognition of her care for a cancer patient and his family during the final weeks of his life.
The man was nursed at home by relatives, who praised the “wonderful” support of our community teams.
The patient’s daughter said Elaine always focused on her father’s care, despite the demands on her time, she kept the family informed and read their emotions and responded to them well.
She added: “The care and compassion Elaine showed is something we will all remember.”
Alessandro and Remya were nominated by a senior colleague for the professionalism they showed on a weekend when the hospital was extremely busy.
They immediately supported a decision to reconfigure a surgical area so that we could continue to safely care for the increasing number of patients needing care for medical conditions.
Thanks to their dedication, hard work, good humour and communication with colleagues, patients and their relatives, the changes were made quickly and efficiently.
More than 30 colleagues and teams were nominated in the latest round of ViP Awards.
If you know a member of Trust staff who deserves to be honoured in this way, you can make a nomination.
