Major milestone as first modules delivered to the Slough CDC
The new £25 million Community Diagnostic Centre (CDC) for Slough has reached a significant milestone in its construction as the first modular units were delivered to the Upton site this week, bringing the new healthcare facility closer to reality.
James Clarke, Chief Strategy Officer at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust said: “This is another exciting milestone in the development of the CDC. The first of 61 modules have now been delivered, with the rest arriving every day over the next couple of weeks. A big thank you to the project team in getting us to this stage, as well as to our partners, including NHS Frimley and the local community, for their continuous support."
Set to open in December 2025, the CDC is a key part of the Trust’s ongoing transformation work to improve health outcomes and reduce health inequalities within the Slough population.
Gerry Rowe, Contracts Manager, Western Building, adds: “We are committed to delivering a sustainable and future-proof healthcare facility in Slough. By using modular construction, we are reducing the environmental impact while ensuring that the new CDC is built efficiently and with the long-term health of the community in mind.
“The team will do all they can to minimise the disruption, but please be aware that there may be some traffic disruption while the modules are brought on site.”
This state-of-the-art facility is expected to transform local healthcare by providing the area with faster and easier access to diagnostic services. Once completed, the centre will not only enhance patient experience but also alleviate pressure at nearby Wexham Park Hospital.
