A Frimley Health nurse consultant has been appointed to a world body that sets international standards for vascular access and IV therapy.
The World Congress on Vascular Access (WoCoVA) approached Andrew Barton to represent the UK on its Global Committee, which includes experts from 34 countries.
WoCoVA is a multi-disciplinary foundation promoting the science and practice of vascular access and in which specialists from around the world share the latest research and innovations.
Andrew, pictured, who is Frimley Health’s lead for vascular access and IV therapy, already chairs NIVAS, the independent society specialising in vascular access and infusion therapies in the UK.
He described his appointment as “the pinnacle in my field”.
NIVAS is hoping Frimley Health’s blueprint for vascular access will form the basis of the national strategy for the service.
Andrew said: “Frimley Health is already seen in the UK as the leading model for vascular access and IV therapy services.
“If it becomes part of the national strategy, we will take it to WoCoVA to try to implement it throughout Europe and the rest of the world.
“Frimley Health really is leading the way, both nationally and internationally.”
