A nurse who supports children with eczema and another who stepped in to help a patient from another department during a medical emergency have been recognised with Frimley Health's Values into Practice Awards.
Paediatric community nurse Marie Barden, based at Wexham Park Hospital, and Emma Ward, a sister from the Parkside outpatient department at Frimley Park, were presented with ViP certificates by Trust Chief Executive Lance McCarthy.
The awards honour staff who demonstrate Frimley Health's values: committed to excellence, working together and facing the future. Nominations are submitted by colleagues and members of the public, with the winners chosen by the Trust's senior leadership team.
Marie was nominated by a colleague for her efforts after stepping into her paediatric eczema care role. She moved the service from home visits to clinic-based and has streamlined the referral process, reducing waiting lists. She also supports the work of paediatric consultants at Wexham Park.
Emma was also nominated by a staff member. She was returning to Parkside when she came across a patient who was experiencing a medical emergency on her way to the Early Pregnancy Unit.
Emma, who had previously worked in the department, took over the situation and took the patient to the Emergency Department and remained with her until she was clinically stable, offering support and reassurance. She also used her skills and experience to support the medical team in ED.
