About 1,000 runners took to the streets around Frimley Park at the weekend in a brilliant show of support of their local NHS hospital.
Serious athletes joined fun runners and Trust staff for Run Frimley – the Frimley Health Charity’s biggest annual fundraiser.
They raised an incredible £50,000 for the charity’s Dementia Appeal, a £1.1m campaign to transform our services for all Frimley Health patients who are living with dementia.
Runners had the choice of three distances this year: the traditional 10km road race, a newly added 5km distance and the ever popular 2.5km family fun run.
The event also had a new home in the grounds of the Army Cadet Training Centre next to Frimley Park Hospital.
Anthony Kerslake, Head of Fundraising at the Frimley Health Charity, said: “This was our first year in our new venue as we looked to reshape Run Frimley and create a great atmosphere and experience for our runners as well as their friends and family. The feedback so far has proved this to be a great success and we can’t wait for 2023 as we look to get bigger and better every year.
“From hearing about a little boy who took part in his first running event outside of school to seeing our oldest runner at 78 cross the finish line with a smile on his face, this year has been one to remember for me and a real success for the charity.
“I would like to thank Massive, our event partner who helped reshape Run Frimley this year, our incredible event sponsors SC Johnson and Symprove, and all of our retailers in the event village who created such a great atmosphere. But most of all, I would like to thank all of our runners and supporters who attended Run Frimley this year. See you all in 2023!”
