Staff don pyjamas for 'End PJ paralysis' campaign
Colleagues across Frimley Health’s hospitals swapped their uniforms for pyjamas this week to encourage patients out of bed and into their own clothes. Staff at Frimley Park, Heatherwood and Wexham Park hospitals are supporting the national 70-day ‘End PJ paralysis’ campaign, launched by the chief nursing officer for England, Professor Jane Cummings.
Frimley stars in baby charity film
Frimley Park Hospital’s neonatal unit has been showcased by a national charity for the way it puts families at the centre of their baby’s care. Staff and families on the unit are the focus of a new film by Bliss, the leading UK charity for babies born premature or sick.
Frimley Health's NHS careers showcased
A range of fantastic NHS careers will be showcased at a Frimley Health open event later this month when Frimley Park and Wexham Park host simultaneous careers mornings on Saturday 28 April between 9am and 1pm. Since Frimley Park Hospital joined with Wexham Park and Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot three years ago the trust has become one of the biggest and busiest hospital trusts in the NHS. New chief executive starts at trust
New chief executive Neil Dardis has joined Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust. Neil has more than 20 years’ experience in the NHS, mostly at managerial and board level. Last week he said farewell to colleagues at Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust, where he led a rapid improvement in quality of care, staff engagement and making services more sustainable. Neil replaces Sir Andrew Morris, who retired from the trust after nearly 30 years in charge.
One of the best places to work in the NHS
Frimley Health is one of the best places to work in the NHS, according to the latest national staff survey. Results from the 2017 national NHS staff survey, published this week, reveal that staff at Frimley Park Hospital, Wexham Park Hospital and Heatherwood Hospital, rated their job satisfaction and motivation at work among the top 20% of all NHS hospital employees.
Above par donation to Wexham's ED
Representatives from a local golf club visited Wexham Park Hospital this week to hand over a cheque to emergency department (ED) staff. Burnham Beeches golf club raised over £13,000 for the department’s charitable funds and captains David Barker and Paula Oates presented the cheque to delighted staff on Wednesday 21 February.
Are you ready to Run Frimley?
Hundreds of fun runners and serious athletes are expected to take to the streets around Frimley Park Hospital on Sunday 6 May for Run Frimley, the annual 10km road race and 2.5km fun run. And once again organisers are urging participants to raise as much sponsorship money as possible
Transforming care for local renal patients
A specialist renal unit opened at Frimley Park, making inpatient kidney care available locally for the first time. The eight-bed unit means patients can get dialysis treatment at the hospital instead of transferring to another centre. Inpatients with serious kidney problems were previously taken to a specialist renal care hub at St Helier Hospital in south-west London.
Strictly star returns to Wexham Park
BBC Strictly Come Dancing star Anton Du Beke returned to Slough’s Wexham Park Hospital on 31 January to cut the ribbon on a £10m upgrade to maternity and women’s services. The pro dancer, whose wife Hannah gave birth to twins at the hospital last year, was the guest of honour at a ceremony marking the end of an expansion and refurbishment programme.
