Professional background

Dr Niccolini is an experienced neurologist with special interest in Movement Disorders. She completed my CCT in 2012 at the Department of Neurology and Psychiatry of Sapienza, a well-known Italian University. Dr Niccolini has spent the last year of her specialty training in Uk at Charing Cross Hospital and since then she has been working for several UK-based Trusts. She has a broad experience in Movement Disorders and Botulinum Toxin. She has developed and established the Parkinson’s service at Frimley Park Hospital and worked cross-sites at Wexham Park Hospital to develop PD related guidelines for the Service and introduce the use of PKG in people with Parkinson's.
Dr Niccolini has also been extensively involved in research and she is the Neurology Research Lead at Frimley Park Hospital. She has received several international awards for her research work such as the Henry N. Wagner Jr., MD, Best Paper Award, SNMMI, the SNMMI Brain Imaging Council Young Investigator Award. She has a broad experience in teaching.

Parkinson's disease, Movement Disorders and Dystonia.
Dr Niccolini has been the PI of several interventional and observational PD studies such as: Trial of Ondansetron as a Parkinson’s Hallucinations Treatment - TOP-HAT, Antidepressants Trial in Parkinson's Disease (ADepT-PD):A Randomised Placebo- Controlled Trial on the effectiveness of Escitalopram and Nortriptyline on Depressive Symptoms in Parkinson’s disease and genetic studies related to Aquaporin-4 (AQP4) and other genes in patients with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
