Miss Anuradha Jayaprakasam (Miss Jay) is a Consultant Ophthalmologist and has been Lead Consultant for Oculoplastic, Lacrimal and Orbital surgery at Frimley Health Foundation Trust since 2016. She graduated from Cambridge University and Guy's and St Thomas' Medical schools in London and completed her ophthalmology training in London and Cambridge regions. She has completed postgraduate oculoplastic fellowships at Cambridge and Moorfields Eye Hospitals with additional postgraduate surgical training at the Corneoplastic unit at Queen Victoria Hospital. She is the lead for management of eyelid problems including eyelid malpositions (droopy eyelids, entropion, ectropion), periocular skin cancer excision and reconstruction, eyelid lumps and bumps, blepharitis. She leads the thyroid eye disease service, periocular management of facial nerve palsy, watering eyes and lacrimal disease service. She also leads on orbital disease management, and the periocular botulinum toxin (botox) service. She is College Tutor for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and is Clinical Governance Lead for the Eye Department, focussing on continually improving all aspects of patient care and safety.
Research interests
Miss Jay is a UK Principal Investigator for several international Randomised Controlled Trials for novel targeted therapies for thyroid eye disease. She is the research lead for oculoplastics. She has a strong interest in teaching and training, and runs courses and lectures to develop senior doctors in training. She is an honorary lecturer for UCL and is invited to lecture regularly at Moorfields Eye Hospital. She is an Examiner for the Royal College of Ophthalmologists and regularly examines UK based and international ophthalmology doctors for their final FRCOphth examinations, prior to applying for consultant posts.
