Miss Manju Chandran
Professional background
She has served as a Consultant Ophthalmologist since 2016, bringing over 25 years of experience in the field. Her areas of expertise include Medical Retina conditions such as Macular Degeneration, Diabetic Retinopathy, and Retinal Vein Occlusions, as well as high-volume, complex cataract surgery. She is a renowned expert in Medical Retina and has delivered presentations at both national and international conferences, showcasing her expertise in the field. As the clinical lead for the service, she played a pivotal role in establishing the High-Volume Cataract Surgery Hub at Heatherwood. Additionally, she serves as the Regional Clinical Lead for the South East, where she has significantly contributed to digitalizing the cataract surgery pathway in the region. Since 2017, she has also been the Clinical Lead for the Surrey Diabetic Eye Screening Programme, working closely to ensure its efficient operation and the delivery of high-quality care.
Research interests
She is actively engaged in research and has served as both Sub-Investigator and Principal Investigator for numerous clinical trials. Her contributions to the field include publishing several articles in peer-reviewed journals, particularly in the area of Medical Retina.
