Welcome to the Preceptorship hub where you will find some useful information below and documentation on the right of this text.
Preceptorship at Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust (FHFT) is a 12-month Programme including regular meetings with a preceptor and attending 4-5 core study days depending on profession specific requirements. This programme supports new staff with the fundamental knowledge regarding the Trust, its policies, processes, and documentation. It supports the development of multiprofessional collaboration, communication, and professional identity. The programme helps to improve wellbeing and resilience in staff, ensuring they feel supported and know where to get support should they need it. This programme also supports career development, fosters learning, leadership, and presents access to further training opportunities for each staff member.
We are very proud to have a programme that has received the Interim Quality Mark for its standards
At Frimley we work collaboratively with Military professionals, who support the delivery of this programme.

Midwifery Preceptorship Programme
Our Midwifery Preceptorship Programme is designed to support newly qualified midwives as they transition into professional practice. This 12-month tailored programme provides a structured framework to build confidence, enhance clinical skills, and foster personal and professional growth in a supportive environment.
Our preceptorship programme consists of:
- A supported rotation across maternity services, including antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal areas;
- Following a designed competency framework, including (but not limited to): epidural care, suturing, medication administration, venepuncture and transitional care competencies;
- Participating in 6 core preceptorship days and 3 mandatory update days, including (but not limited to) labour care, fetal monitoring, obstetric emergencies, postnatal care and IV study days.
With guidance from the practice development team, experienced preceptors and buddies, preceptees will develop their expertise in providing compassionate, evidence-based care while navigating the dynamic challenges of midwifery.
